The annual Stand Up for Heroes fundraising event held by the Bob Woodruff Foundation is a prime example of what we at Event Photojournalism refer to as “the power of fundraising event photography.” We understand the importance of photography for special events, and especially for foundations and non-profit organizations that rely on their members and donors to raise funds to support their mission. One of the most powerful tools to support their fundraising efforts is through hosting an annual benefit or fundraising event in Washington DC or nationwide.  Not only can these charities extend their donor reach to the general public through ticket sales, they can limit event costs through corporate sponsorships. In addition, hosting a fundraising event in DC will increase awareness, interest and media attention for their non-profit organization.  It is crucial for non-profit event planners to team up with a skilled event photographer in order to supply the much-needed imagery for media and press releases, social media feeds, in-house marketing and promotional needs for the following year’s benefit. Event photography is powerful, and even more crucial for benefits, charity and fundraiser events.

In one evening, The Bob Woodruff Foundation raised “more than $6.2 million in support of post-9/11 injured service members, veterans and their families.” Their annual event is known as “a night of comedy and music,” and attracts huge headlining talent such as Bruce Springsteen and Train, which Event Photojournalism provided event photography at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.
