Google Store Opening in Georgetown, 2025
Google opened its first Washington DC retail store in Georgetown in December 2025. The shop at 3235 M Street NW is the company’s ninth physical store and a new kind of event room for the neighborhood: part product floor, part upstairs classroom.
The opening mattered because Georgetown gained a tech retailer with a public program calendar, not only another showroom. For event teams, the useful detail is the second floor. That is where workshops, panels, and community activations now happen.
What Opened on M Street
The Georgetown store lets visitors try Pixel phones, Nest products, Fitbit trackers, and in-person AI features such as Gemini Live. It also offers repairs, trade-ins, and setup help from on-site specialists.
Google framed the store as part of a longer presence in Washington. At the opening, Karan Bhatia, Google’s global head of government affairs and public policy, and Mike Camacho, global head of stores, welcomed Mayor Muriel Bowser for a ribbon-cutting and preview with local officials and Google fans.
Mayor Bowser called the store a marker for the District’s tech and innovation community—global companies and local talent working in the same neighborhood.
The Upstairs Room Is the Event Story
The sales floor is for demos. The second-floor classroom is for programs. Georgetown BID and store materials noted that the upper level would host free workshops and community sessions, including small-business education.
That layout has already been used for community activations, including Happy Techsgiving in the dedicated upstairs space. The room is compact. Coverage has to stay close to speakers and attendees without interrupting the retail operation below.

What a Store Opening—and the Events After It—Need Photographed
A Georgetown store opening is part civic moment, part retail launch. The photographs that hold up later are usually:
- Ribbon-cutting and official remarks
- Store leadership and local officials
- First guests on the sales floor
- Details that identify the M Street location
- The upstairs classroom once programs begin
- Workshop instruction and attendee reaction
The architecture is clean and contemporary. The assignment is still the people in the room.
Photographing Events at Google Store Georgetown

Event Photojournalism documents community and corporate programs at the Georgetown store, including upstairs classroom events. The work is quieter than a hotel gala: mixed retail light, a small floor plan, and guests moving between demo and discussion.
If you are planning a workshop, panel, or activation at 3235 M Street NW, send the date, whether the program stays upstairs, and the delivery deadline.
