The Wow Factor | Special Event Photography Washington DC

When planning your event, finding the right venue and theme are only two parts of the puzzle to planning a spectacular event. From our many years of experience, we’ve noticed that some events have a true “wow factor” that make them stand out among the rest. Events with the “wow factor” capitalize on these three things:

1.   Emphasize Architecture

When you find your venue, make the most out of it. Instead of working against the natural beauty by pushing a contradictory design, embellish what you are given. Most of the buildings around DC are historic and the original designs are beautiful. Use the unique architecture to your advantage and incorporate it into your design and theme.

2.   Dramatic Lighting

One of the best ways to emphasize the architecture – from ornate colonnades to intricate crown molding – is to use dramatic lighting. The lighting will create dimension with the shadows and make the room or area look even grander and more luxurious. Plus, lighting is the cherry on top to pulling together a theme or style.

3.   Creative Menu & Plating

We can all probably admit that one of the most anticipated parts of a party is the food. Who doesn’t love an artfully crafted savory hors d’oeuvre or a picture worthy (and equally delicious) dessert? One of the best ways to impress your guests is through their taste buds. Work with your planner to pick a unique (yet appealing) menu that fits in with your overall style and theme, and go for a presentation that makes guests admire the artwork before taking a bite. The coordinated menu and plating will demonstrate the extra care you took into hosting such an exceptional event.
