Washington DC Event Photographer | Social Media Event Promotion Tactics

As a Washington DC Event Photographer, I have seen the gambit of well, and poorly promoted events. Like it or not, social media is here to stay. Learning and utilizing a few simplistic tactics can truly make a world of difference when it comes to your next big event.

1. Quality vs. Quantity

When social media outlets such as Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Snapchat came on the scene, the rules were much different than they are today. There used to be a steady rule that whoever posted most often was most prominent in the social media community. However, the trend has shifted. Now people are more concerned about quality of content rather than just blasting away all day. Social media is an opportunity of sorts when it comes to potential future clients. Think of it as your portfolio. In the day and age we find ourselves in, our clients are often lost in the hustle and bustle of internet bombardment. Give your clients a reason to stop and take stock of what you have to offer. Essentially, show them what sets you apart.

2. Capitalize on FOMO

Even saying this phrase makes me stop and giggle as I sit here writing this post, but “FOMO” (fear of missing out) truly goes a long way in our society. To capitalize on this, create a sense of fun, community, and togetherness when it comes to your event. If others are having fun and are involved, inevitably others will want to join in (if only out of fear of not being involved, or being left out).

3. Make Your Posts Stand out from the Crowd

That’s where we come in. Take images from your last (or previous year’s event) and utilize those in your social media tactics. Professional quality images will stand out from the crowd of endless iPhone snap shots. If you stand above the rest when it comes to quality in something as small as social media posts, it will start to show your potential future clients jus in your clients eyes.
